3 Tips on Displaying Your Social Media in Print

By nsndm001 | May 31, 2023

In business, it’s a really good idea to use your print materials (business cards, letterhead, posters, postcards, signage, etc.) to draw attention to your Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and other social media presences. After all, it’s just one more way to get more followers tuning into your brand. Here are a couple of tips when displaying your social media in print:

Spell It Out

Don’t just say, “Follow Us On Facebook!” or say, have the Facebook logo on your business card. Spell it out for your potential new follower.

If I told you to follow me, would you search under Night Day Digital Media or Night Day Productions? What if you couldn’t remember my company name? Some people make the mistake of thinking it’s Night and Day; what if they accidentally follow the wrong business? Or what if they look up my name, Nishi Sood and discover there are more than one of us active on social media?

Spell out your social media ID and use the full link when possible.

Get a Sexy Vanity URL

Whenever possible, make sure you get a tidy vanity URL for your Facebook business page and LinkedIn profile; preferably something short and sweet so that it fits on your business card.

Choose short, easy-to-remember handles for your YouTube channel and Twitter account. Otherwise, you’ll have a messy long link full of numbers and letters and gobbledygook that will be tedious to type into a search and you might lose the opportunity to expand your audience.

Don’t Mess With Social Media Logos (too  much)

If you’re going to use social media logos (not a bad idea, they are eye-catching) use the proper logos to avoid confusion. You can tweek the look and colour of the logos a bit to fit in with your branding, but don’t go crazy, because it won’t be completely obvious to everyone right away. Using a custom blue cartoon birdie to indicate your Twitter account might look cute, but you might lose some people.
