4 Reasons Even Puny Small Businesses Need Websites
According to HubSpot, 40% of small and medium businesses don’t have websites. And while I know it’s tempting to cut corners and cut costs when you’re building a small business… that’s crazy! Seriously, anything short of a lemonade stand needs a website. Here’s why:
1) It’s how people buy. They hear about you at some event, or on Facebook, or they see your business card or flyer somewhere and they DON’T call you… first, they check out your website to see if you’re worthy of a call. “Having a website puts the buyer in control,” says HubSpot and that’s how the buyer likes it. Your potential clients are looking for your website, so don’t let them down by not having one.
2) All Roads Lead to Your Website. A website is just part of your online presence, but it is central to your online presence. Your blogs, Yelp reviews, LinkedIn testimonials, Tweets, Facebook updates, YouTube videos, Instagrams, eBooks, newsletter, etc. are going to attract buyers and sooner or later, once your content has them convinced, they’re going to want to know more about you and where they can spend their money.
3) It’s (Relatively) Cheap Advertising. Compared to TV, radio, directory listings, newspapers, hosting a website is cheap… and it’s on 24/7. Plus, when was the last time you actively paid attention to a TV ad or looked something up in a directory? Just saying.
4) It Makes You Look Good. Having a website gives your business credibility. It shows you are serious about the product or service you offer. Not having a website is like not having a business card or not brushing your teeth… while it doesn’t mean you’re unprofessional or bad at your job, it just looks and smells like you are.
Granted, not everyone can afford a fancy website but the good news is you don’t necessarily need to spend a whole lot. Let me know if your lemonade stand or small business needs a basic but beautiful, functional and affordable website… I’d love to help you.
Have a great week,
