[VIDEO] Don’t Launch Your Business On Social Media Without Doing This First

It’s always exciting to meet someone who’s finally ready and excited to launch their business on social media.

And, I don’t want to squash that excitement, but I always have to say, “Okay, but wait, before we do anything, what audience do you want to reach? Who is your target market? Who is your target audience?”

And then, this is usually where things start to fall apart. Because, too often, the business owner will reply, “I don’t know.”

Or actually, more often they’ll say, “Everybody. I want to target everybody.”

And actually, saying that “Everybody” is your target, is the same as saying, “I don’t know.”

You can’t be everything to everyone. If you do this, you’ll dilute your message on social media. And you’ll just attract a lot of “meh” people, because you’re “meh” about your audience.

You’re not being selective enough. You’re not being specific enough. So, before you launch on social media, ask yourself, who do you want to reach? Who is your ideal client?

And, once you get a really clear picture of who these people are, then you can start asking more important questions like…
What kind of content is going to interest them?

What can I provide that they need from me?

What kind of solutions can I provide for them?

And, where are these people on social media? Maybe they’re really active on Facebook, but not on LinkedIn, or vice versa. I don’t know, it’s different for every single person.

So, before you start launching things on social media, ask yourself who it is you want to reach, and get real.

Don’t say everybody, don’t do that. Get really specific and don’t be afraid of cutting people out of your target range.

Go for the people you want. Go for the people that are going to be the people you really want to work with.

And, by the way, this works for life too. Not just business and not just branding and not just social media.

So, that’s it. I hope you found that helpful. Leave a comment for me, tell me who your target audience is. I want to hear from you; I want to learn more about you. Until next time, take care.
